NEACC specialist Nabokova E.V. participated in the 21st session of the Forum on Regional Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction for Asia (FOCRAII) under the official invitation of the organizers. The Forum was held in Qingdao, China, on May 14-16, 2025. The forum is organized by the WMO and the Beijing Climate Center, one of the first climate centers in the RAII region, which also serves as the WMO Center for the Study of Monsoon Activity in East Asia, the Global Center for the Preparation of Long-term Forecasts and the Center for Monitoring Extreme Events in Asia.
The forum was attended by Chinese and international representatives of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Secretariat and more than 30 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Egypt, Ethiopia, Cameroon and other countries, as well as participants from the Meteorological Administration of China, Nanjing Pedagogical University, Fudan University, Nanjing University of Information Sciences and Technology, China Oceanic University and others. 41 reports (in offline and online formats) were presented at the forum, which reflected the latest research in the field of seasonal forecasting, as well as discussions on the development of climate services, new technologies and methods. Following the results of the forum, a consensus decision was made on the forecast for the 2025 summer season.
